Due to financial difficulties, Chad have stepped down from Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) football qualifications, leaving Group G with only three teams remaining, which are; Egypt, Nigeria and Tanzania. Chad are fined $ 20,000 by CAF.
As a result, there are only one team who can qualify from Group G. Nigeria are definitely crashed out from AFCON 2017 as they were beaten 0-1 by the host Egypt. They are now trailing Egypt with 5 points gap and one game to go. Tanzania have two games to go and if they can beat both Egypt and Nigeria in their last remaining games, they would qualify.
In Group J, Algeria were forced to equalize three times against the host Ethiopia. No more goal was scored until the final whistle, and the final result was 3-3. Algeria still lead the Group J, and Ethiopia are trailing them in second place with 5 points gap.
